Concept 40

2. I see that this person is smart and witty but their laziness is hindering their success. This person could be much better in all aspects of life if it wasn't for their laziness. This person would have to overcome their laziness in order to move forward at a much faster rate.

Concept 39

1. I am most afraid of not succeeding in life. In order to face this fear I would have to give up on life.
2. When I asked out my girlfriend I was extremely nervous, but I knew that I had to do so I did.
3. My hero is afraid of death. He has to face it when he is up against the wall with guns pointed at him.

Adrianna's Script

Characters 3
Entertainment 3
Use of Non-Linear 3

The script is very jumpy. The flashbacks jump from place to place very fast.

Justin's Script

Characters 3
Entertainment 3
Use of Non-Linear 3

The script is written well. Format is on point. Great conflict.

Concept 37

Man on Fire, Memento, House of Wax are three movies that totally blew me away at the end. The writers and producers used action scenes and non linear structures to detract the ending.

I tricked my teammate into believing that he had started a fire in my house by using a fog machine and a red light. This could be applied in an audience by using props and foolery.

Thursday, December 8, 2011

Concept 36

The main character's conflict could easily be resolved if he had become instantly rich, had a super power, or could relive past memories.

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Concept 35

1. Harry Potter , Star Wars, Spy Game, Joan of Arc, Robin Hood, Braveheart.

2. If I was in the #10 I would have to muster up all of my courage and bravery in order to fight the antagonist.

3. The last time I took a risk was when I intentionally tackled a player and was sent off in a soccer match. The player was 1 on 1 with the keeper. There was about 3 minutes left in the match. I did that for the team. The other team ended up missing the free kick and we ended up winning the match. The win was worth it all.

Quickwrite

The best movie I have seen that has multiple perspectives is Citizen Kane. Everybody has different perspectives and stories on a single event and they are never all the same. The multiple perspectives help the viewer determine what they believe what happened. Jersey Shore and many other reality shows offer different perspectives on events. Once again this serves to help the reader determine their own opinion.

Concept 34

If I could possess any superpower I would want to have the power of learning extremely fast. In order to defeat a villain a protagonist would have to be very thrifty and use his logic a lot.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The structure of this film is very interesting. I thought the structure made the movie a lot better because it kept the audience paying attention. The structure added to the characters and theme. If the story was told in chronological order the movie wouldn't have been so interesting and the movie wouldn't have appealed to me as much. I have never seen a movie with this structure before. All the other non linear films had different structures and different plots.

Concept 33

1. I have "paid it forward" many times. For example if someone opens the door for me or some common nice deed I will repeat it to some other person as soon as I get the chance. But I don't always wait for someone to be courteous to me before I'm courteous to someone else. I often try to start people paying it forward.

Concept 32

The movie John Q is an excellent example of a movie where the plot was predominantly objective. The writes used the ailing little boy as a method for empathy. The objective didn't take away from the movie. It added a lot to the movie and made it one of the best movies out there.

Concept 29

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT
A party is going on when the house phone rings. MARK the parents son answers the phone in his parents bedroom.

MARK
Hello?

DAD
Hey Mark, there's been a change of plans. We're on our way now.

MARK
What? Uhm. I thought you guys were coming tomorrow morning?

DAD
We were supposed to but there was some problem with the hotel reservation and we didn't really want to stay here anyways. So we decided to come back now. We should be home in about 45 minutes. We've been on the road for a while now.

MARK
Why didn't you call me earlier?

DAD
Didn't really think about it.

MARK
Okay. I'll see you guys in a bit.

Mark quickly hangs up the phone and begins to clean as fast as he can.

MARK
I didn't expect them to come home so early. I need to clean this house!

Mark walks to the living room where the party is going on and beings to yell.

MARK
Everybody needs to go! Someone just called the cops on us. Come on come on go go go.

All Marks friends make there way out of the house like a herd of sheep.

My last birthday I went to Reno Nevada.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - DAY

JOSE
Gamble! What else is there to do in Nevada.

Concept 27

1. The setting that most appeals to me would be at lunch while she is at her favorite café. I would choose this location because the girl is at a place where she is comfortable. Also she is in no rush to get to class so she will have time to listen to thatcher's plea.

2. My script would be about two high school freshman on their first day of school. They've been friends for a long time and are chatting about the differences of high school classrooms to middle school classrooms. They talk about everything from lighting to the desks.

3. In my own short I plan to use the school, a local park, and my house. At the school I would use classrooms, the library, and the forum. At the park I would use the large grass area. At my house I would use my living room.

Groundhog Day

In Groundhog Day the main character lives the same day over and over again. The structure in Groundhog Day is mostly the same as the structure in Run Lola Run. The other movies are very different in structure because Citizen Kane is purely flashbacks and Memento goes backwards in time.

Foolish Decisions

Format 1
Conflict 2
Characters 2

This screenplay was alright. There were problems with the format, spelling and grammatical errors were evident throughout the entire screenplay. The conflict was something that doesn't happen often in real life but is a concept seen in many shows and movies.

Xavier Pilot

Format 3
Conflict 3
Characters 3

This is probably the best script that I have read so far in this class. It has a great conflict that not only teenagers can relate to but adults as well. There are no errors in the format and the characters are not just one sided.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Sixth Period Pilot

Format 3
Conflict 2
Characters 2

I like this screenplay. The conflict seems true and interesting and the format is spot on for the most part.

Cheaters

Format 1
Conflict 2
Characters 2

The format of this screenplay was incorrect. The punctuation and capitalization needs some major work.

Friday, November 4, 2011

Psycho Reflection

Psycho's screenplay is very unique. It uses a lot of directions and many descriptions as to what happens and what goes on. The story bounces from location to location. The characters are unique because they are three dimensional and don't only have one side to them. The writer sneaks in many things that without close attention will go unheard. The humor is a sort of dark humor.

Concept 25

One person, one team, one year, Vidal is about to face the challenge of a lifetime as he plays for the school soccer team.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Pilot # 3

Format 2
Characters 2
Conflict 3

I like the fact that modern day teen slang and language was used. I would suggest that the writers focus a bit more on punctuation and the other minor writing mistakes, other than that th conflict might be a little tough to continue in several episodes.

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Pilot #1

Format 2
Characters 2
Conflict 3

I would suggest making the transitions a bit smoother and making the story a bit more clearer.

Horror Movies

1. Insidious
2. Saw V
3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
4. The Last Exorcist
5. Paranormal Activity 2

A good horror story has suspense, surprises, twists, and an element of fear. Some techniques that the writers use are music, pop-ups, and sudden movements to scare the audience.

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Lost

The writer reveals the differences in the characters by the different ways they talk and the different actions they do. Jack is a leader as he tries to help everyone and he tells that he is a doctor. Hurley seems like a laid back kind of person by his method of speaking. Kate is a strong person that overcomes her fear easily. Boone seems to be a person that likes to please others by the way he brought jack many different pens when he asked him for one.

Concept 24

I was completely surprised in the outcome of one of my soccer games. We had lost two players due to red cards in the first half. I was one. At the end of the first half we were down 2-0. Our players didnt give up and scored a goal in the first 5 minutes of the second half. The team continued battling until they tied the game and scored the go ahead goal in the last 5 minutes of play.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Concept 23

The story I want to write about is a story about a young person struggling with their daily life. The main character will want to solve the problems the he/she faces daily. The quest will never be fully successful but the character will win many little battles along the way.

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Desperate Housewives

The three main characters are Mary, Lynette, and Gabrielle. They are introduced as if they were regular people living a regular life. The conflict seems to be the relationships between the housewives and their husbands. The writing is very modern. The characters use everyday language that is tweaked only a little bit to show the difference in characters.

Concept 22

The tv episode my group is writing is character driven because our whole story revolves around one character. The main character has to go through many different tribulations and without that main character there would be no story.

Monday, October 24, 2011

Pilot Reflection

Our characters are unique because they are complex and deal with multiple problems instead of just one main one. We can introduce them in a unique way by starting the pilot off directly into a problem. Our main character has to deal with problems at home with her family, problems at school with her friends and with academics. The main character has a multitude of problems that she has to deal with and solve.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

My So Called Life

In My So Called Life it mainly focuses on high school students that are going through things that most high school students go through. We took this idea and decided to narrow it down to one main character. The story is entirely told in the first person and we only see the struggles that the main character goes through. The part of the show that didn't appeal to me was where they go over many peoples problems. Also, the dress style is a bit strange compared to modern day style. In my show we will modernize all of the aspects.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Concept 20

My main character would have a plethora of problems going on.
The main character would be a poor teenager struggling to fit in a school where the majority of the students are of middle to high class. The main character wants to be like his best friend who is of an affluent background.

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Concept 19

I would have Joe tell the story. Joe would be a lot older and he would be telling the story to his grandkids. The backdrop would be the backyard of Joe's house and Joe and his grandchildren would be sitting in a chair.

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Concept 18

Romeo and Juliet
Othello
Hamlet
Julius Ceasear
Macbeth

The most successful of these movies is Romeo and Juliet because the majority of people can relate to either one of the characters in the movie.

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Concept 16

I'd like to write for a teenage audience. It will be easy for my audience to relate with my main character because my main character will also be a teenager having to deal with some of the more prominent things that teenagers today have to deal with. For example, my main character will have to deal with parents that are constantly on his back, friends that aren't really true friends, and classes that gets harder every day. The main character is just trying to move forward when there is an endless anount of roadblocks in his way. Many teenagers have to deal with problems like this and that is why I believe that my audience will be able to relate to my main character.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Concept 15

The theme of the movie that I would like to create would be that if you try hard enough, no matter what the odds are, you can be successful. I chose it because many people think that just because they are born into a bad situation, they won't be able to get out of it. I want people to change that mentality and truly believe that they can accomplish anything. The events in my story would support my story by showing the main character pitted in the worst of situations, but by persevering he is able to get out of them and come out on top.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Citizen Kane Non Linear Structure

I think that the non-linear structure of Citizen Kane made the movie much more interesting. The audience was kept wondering what the meaning of rosebud was throughout the whole movie. This helped because is was the driving force of the entire movie. If the movie would have been in a linear structure, the motif of rosebud wouldnt have been so significant. I do not agree with the statement that Citizen Kane is the greatest movie of all time. I agree that the camerawork in the movie was amazing and the plot was amazing too, but I don't think that it is deserving of the title the greatest movie of all time. It definitely could have been one of the best movie of that time but I believe there are better movies now.

Charles Foster Cane

Charles Foster Cane is a news media tycoon that has a huge estate named Xandu. He just recently died. Many people call him a yellow journalist that is not deserving of his wealth. He was married twice and twice divorced. His first wife and only child died in a car accident.

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Concept 13

There are many roads that I wish I had taken. I wish that I would have not purposely failed Algebra 1 in 8th grade. If I would have passed the test, which I knew I would have if I had tried, I would now be in Calculus, or done with my mathematics class period. This parallel life would intersect with my current one daily, but I would just have a difference in coursework and future coursework. If I had passed that test, I would have one less class to worry about in college and I would a better looking transcript.

Freaks and Geeks Reflection

My favorite episode so far has been the last one that we saw called Kim Kelly is my fried. I liked this episode the most because it was really daring and bold. A lot was resolved in this episode and the episode was really comedic as well. Sam, Kelly, Lindsay, and Daniel all resolve their problems in a comedic way. This episode was full of twists and turns.

Exposition Revision

All the freaks except NICK are sitting by the smoking patio. Nick walks into frame

Thanks guys, I know I'll have much more fun sitting at home staring at the walls.

Writer 6 : Wrote feature called Splicer. Didn't write any TV spec script.

Script Terms

I looked at the screenplay for V For Vandetta.

I found these terms in the screenplay :

FADE IN:
EVEY (V.O.)
FADE IN:
INT. SUBURBAN HOUSE
EXT. CITY STREET
INT. BATHROOM
EXT. EVEY'S APARTMENT

Script Revision

I believe that I did a good job with most of my dialogue, but I think that this section could use a bit more work.

Tony continues on the freeway towards Tijuana. He is sweating profusely and is visibly terrified. He keeps on rubbing his face nervously. About thirty minutes later he gets a call once again.

I could just say that Tony is extremely nervous and letting the director decide how that is portrayed.

Freaks and Geeks : Halloween

1. I know that Lindsay is kind hearted and understands and knows when she messed up.

2. The major plots of the halloween episode are : Sam trying to convince his friends to go trick or treating, Lindsay finding a way of ditching her mom to go hang out with her friends, Lindsay tries to fit in with her friends.

3. All the plots come together at the end because Sam and his friends go out trick or treating, Lindsay leaves and goes out with her friends, and by trying to fit in with her newfound friends, Lindsay eggs her little brother Sam in the face.

Passion of the Christ, Avatar, and Star Wars all in one

Jesus is stuck in a futuristic planet named Pandora. He must defeat Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. Jesus has to use the power, known as the force, to annihilate the Death Star before it annihilates the world as he knows it. Jesus goes through different tests and trials in the jungle of Pandora. He has to fight and defeat all of the bad guys. Jesus, with his immense persuading power, was able to convince some of the bad guys to fight for his side. Using this method he was able to infiltrate the death star and disarm it without major fighting and death.

Concept 8

1. I would set the plot to be a heated exchange between Orlando and Reese. They would be a couple having an argument over a suspicion of adultery. I would set the scene to start off in a parked car in the school parking lot. Then they would get out of the car and continue their argument outside.

3. A doctor, a prison cell, and a notebook, those are the three things I have chosen to write a short about.
The doctor is stuck in a prison cell, convicted of malpractice. He has been taking bribes from patients for early organ transplants, he has also purposely let other patients die just to make sure that he has enough for the bribes. We find this out because he writes a suicide letter stating all that he has done and he asks for forgiveness. The entire short is just of him reminiscing about what he has done in the past. He writes the letter in the notebook he was given.

New scene Freaks and Geeks

INT. P.E. Locker Room

SAM

Neil
I guess so. I don't like this class already.

Alan shoves Sam into the lockers.
Alab
You gotta problem pipsqueak? You don't want to show off your bony body?
Check out these guns! These guns are gunna cream you!

Alan flexes his biceps and shows Sam.

High School TV Shows

Saved by the bell is one of my favorites because it is a comedic protrayal of the typical teenager's experience in high school.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is one of my favorite shows because is it very funny.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Concept 7 Brainstormer 1

An example of a story that unfolds in one day would be Romeo and Juliet. A story that takes about a week would be Man on Fire. A story taking several months would be Anger Management. A story taking place for ten or more years would be Forrest Gump.

Personal Script

I think that my best scene would be the opening scene where Jorge gets lost and Tony is outside talking to the mysterious unknown man. I think that it was the best because it built up suspense and it set the mood and tone for the rest of the story. I would say that my worst scene would be the ending scene where Tony finds out the entire thing was a hoax. This is the worst scene because I had to change up the entire story due to the limit on the length. If I wasn't restrained I would have written the story as I originally intended it to be.

Short Film

1. The short that we watched had to do with a boy about 10 years old and what seemed to be his mother. There were only two locations within the film, ther family's house and ther playground. The problem is that the boy wants to go outside and he wants to be like his mom. The solution is that he goes out by himself without his mother. The length of the film is about six minutes long. I disliked the sad ending of the film.

2. I think that there is enough material in this short film for it to be expanded to a two-hour film. The film could go into more detail on what happened before the story took place. For example the story could explain why there was no one outside.

3. My favorite feature-length movie is Man on Fire. One single scene that could stand on it's own as a short is when Creasy goes and extracts the information from the policeman.
